Another day and nothing new to share. Turns out you really should drink laxative teas with this diet to help your body... cleanse. Surprisingly I haven't felt that my stomach is empty despite no food for three days. I just drank one such tea and we'll see what happens. If you don't see any posts from me tomorrow it means that nothing interesting happened or I'm incapacitated :)
it's interesting, i had a similar sensation in college. i once decided to fast for no particular health reason and went for six days on just water. i just sort of plowed ahead without doing any research or anything, i was simply annoyed when i noticed that i didn't eat for hunger anymore, but just out of habit.
ReplyDeleteanywho, the thing that struck me the most is that after the first day or two (kind of like what i'm getting from your posts) i didn't really feel any hunger. as a matter of fact, the reason i stopped after 6 days is because i felt like i should eat something just so i don't do any damage.
years later, after i started working here (at rush), i began to regularly attend these so-called "grand rounds" where different disciplines within the medical center present latest research or share something of value. i typically attend the gerontology grand rounds. so old folk shit.
one of these is related to what i'm saying here. basically, this researcher tried to gather as much info as there was out there on longevity. despite tons or research, surprisingly little is conclusive. after a bunch of work the most promising answer to longer life was eating very little. just that. there are a bunch of people following this approach and they eat like 500-600 calories per day.
this seemed to go along with that feeling of lightness and lack of hunger i had during the fast.
i know this was a slight tangent, but thought i'd share.
i am also interested in doing the detox thing, so keep us posted on progress. good luck.
I actually heard of a guy just yesterday who got too crazy and started doing this diet for 30-40 days at a time... Until he died one day :(
ReplyDeletePlus I am definitely not willing to give up my love of tasty food forever :)
i am most certainly not recommending this as the way to go. just thought it was an interesting parallel between the light feeling and some research.
